Boating Safety Education PI Orange

The Arizona Game and Fish Department’s Boating Safety Education courses include instruction on the basic skills required to safely operate a boat or personal watercraft, trailering your vessel, navigational rules, buoys, anchoring, legal requirements, boating emergencies, water sports, and paddling.  Courses are offered in three formats: classroom courses, home study courses, and online courses. Take a boating education course now! Most insurance companies offer a discount on your boat or PWC insurance rate for completing one of our courses. We also offer Paddlesports skills-based training, instruction includes basic skills required to safely paddle, self-rescue, boating emergencies, legal requirements, and much more.

What We Do

Boating Safety Education Class Instructor:  Teach the Boat AZ classroom course, including setting up, grading exams, and putting away of equipment.

Paddle Sports Education Kayak Instructor: Teach the Paddlesports Kayak class. This involves setting up for the class, instruction, grading exams, and clean up. Additionally, instructors will carry out an on-the-water portion and must be able to prepare kayaks and equipment, fit life jackets, carry out hands-on instruction on the water, demonstrate water recoveries, clean and put away equipment.

Paddle Sports Education SUP Instructor: Teach the Paddlesports SUP class.

Life Jacket Loaner Station Monitor: Visit assigned life jacket loaner station on a weekly basis. Tidy and organize life jackets on the station with each visit. Work to keep the station supplied with the required number of life jackets by size. Report monthly or sooner any resupply needs to AZGFD. Coordinate with the Boating Program for resupply.

PFD Wear Rate Data Collector: Use binoculars to observe and record life jacket wear information of boaters at specified bodies of water. Follow identified protocols and reporting procedures.
