Who We Are

The Amphibians and Reptiles Program is responsible for managing Arizona’s approximately 25 amphibians and 107 reptiles, as well as several invasive exotic species. Because it is impractical to manage that many species, we focus primarily on those species that face significant conservation challenges, and/or are federally listed under the ESA. Our Program includes 6 full time staff and is functionally distributed into three Projects: Gartersnakes, Ranid Frogs, and Turtles. In addition, the Amphibians and Reptiles Program administers the Department's scientific activity licenses as well as online journal resources and library loan requests.
