Description

Join us on August 16th to help improve wildlife habitat at Hat Ranch by decommissioning approximately 3 miles of downed fence - no fence work experience necessary! This effort will reduce entanglement hazards and remove barriers to migration for pronghorn, elk, and mule deer moving through Game Management Unit 8. Hat Ranch encompasses about 1,680 acres of ponderosa pine, pinyon/juniper, and grassland meadow habitat, and supports a wide range of wildlife including elk, mule deer, pronghorn antelope, and Merriam’s turkey. The existing downed fence - made of smooth wire, fiberglass poles, and wrought iron posts - lies on mostly flat terrain and poses a threat to migrating wildlife. Your help will make a meaningful impact on this important corridor!

The start time is 8:30am at Hat Ranch Headquarters (5248 S Hat Ranch Road, Williams, AZ 86046, N 35.17583 W -112.28563). Wear sunscreen, a hat, long pants and closed toed shoes. Don't forget to bring water, snacks, and a lunch!
