Project Location: We will be completing a fence modification project in the south end of the San Rafael Valley on the state park, along a county-maintained road and two internal pasture fences to assist with unencumbered Pronghorn movement.
Project Begins: Friday, October 3rd, leaving camp at 7:00AM and finish early afternoon. Saturday, we will begin at 8:00AM. Meet at camp for all start times. This is a 2-day project, but we need the most volunteers on Saturday. If you can only work one day, Saturday would be the best for our work crew allocations. On Saturday, we will finish by 2:00PM in time for a 3-4:00PM guided park tour of the infamous Sharp Ranch 1880's ranch house featured in many older westerns from the 30's to the 50's.
Project Activity: Friday we will be completing a county roadway fence modification and eastern boundary pasture fence. On Saturday we will be modifying a 2-mile center pasture fence through removal and replacement of the bottom strands.
Pronghorn Benefits: This project will enhance and improve free pronghorn access in the southern portion of the San Rafael Valley on the State Park where pronghorn use and access is currently limited to several fence low spots.
What to Bring: Work gloves (The AAF will have a limited supply), snacks, water, personal gear. It is recommended you bring a shade canopy as there are no trees at the campsite.
Meals: Please provide your own lunches to eat in the field on the 2 workdays. The AAF will provide dinner on both Friday, and Saturday nights, continental breakfast with coffee and juice on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
