Pipe Capping

Description

Open Pipes Are Death Traps for Birds!

Join Tucson Bird Alliance and Desert Fence Busters to protect wildlife from hidden hazards in the desert. Open vertical pipes (often called Death Pipes) pose serious risks to small animals that can become trapped inside.

Volunteers will help by sealing these openings with cement caps to make the landscape safer for wildlife. Tasks include climbing short step ladders (1-3 ft), carrying buckets (up to 10 lbs) short distances (10-20 feet), reaching to cap pipes, and inserting cardboard liners into openings.

If the opportunity is full, please join the waitlist as more spots often become available when we add more transportation options for teams. We will notify you if you are moved up from the waitlist.

You will need to bring:

  • Water
