Come join us at the 46th annual Take a Kid Fishing Event at La Paz County Park in Parker, AZ on February 7 and 9, 2026. Volunteers can be expected to assist with registration, rod and reel set-up, assisting new anglers with baiting hooks and how to cast, assisting new anglers with reeling in fish and taking fish off a line, etc. Registration begins at 9am and fishing starts at 10am. If you have a passion for fishing and working with new fishermen and women, then this is the perfect opportunity for you! We look forward to seeing you then.
As this is a multi-day event, a breakdown of events is as follows:
January 24 - Volunteers will help prepare fishing poles and bait for the fishing event.
January 27 (9-10:30am) Ehrenberg Elementary 49241 Ehrenberg Poston Hwy, Ehrenberg, AZ 85334) - Volunteers will attend school seminars with the Parker Bass Club and AZGFD Staff to teach children knot tying, casting, and fish ID skills.
January 28 (9-11am) Monument Peak Elementary 149123 New North Road, Big River, CA 92242) - Volunteers will attend school seminars with the Parker Bass Club and AZGFD Staff to teach children knot tying, casting, and fish ID skills.
February 7 & 9 (9am-1pm) La Paz County Park - Volunteers will assist anglers by loaning out equipment (rod, reel, tackle, and bait) assist anglers with equipment issues, basic fishing skills (casting, tangled tackle), fish handling and preparation.
