Help protect Arizona's wildlife population by checking water levels, building, repairing, or hauling water to water catchments.
Important information volunteers need to know about this opportunity:
- Activities may be physically demanding, requiring volunteers to lift heavy items
- Catchments are located in remote areas, requiring long drives over rough terrain
- Volunteers will be asked to make a commitment to the program
Training is required! Volunteers will complete the following training to participate in this opportunity:
All volunteers will be required to complete the following training:
- Online Courses (located in TraCorp)
- Standards of Conduct for State Volunteers
- Preventing Inappropriate Behavior in the Workplace
- Kevin Mitnick's Security Training
- In-Person Classes (ask your Wildlife Manager for assistance in scheduling)
- 123 Water Catchment Tracking App
Volunteers who will be authorized to use a State (Arizona Game and Fish Department) vehicle will take additional steps to participate in the Water for Wildlife opportunity. The AZGFD Wildlife Manager and volunteer will determine if a State vehicle is available. When available, a volunteer may drive a Department vehicle after completing the following steps:
- Complete the State Driver Authorization Form
- Requires consent for a periodic motor vehicle record review and signature of an AZGFD supervisor providing authorization to drive a Department vehicle
- Complete online training in TraCorp:
- State Authorized Driving
- Basic Radio Procedures
- 4 Wheel Drive Video Training & Attestation
- Complete in-person classes:
- 4-Wheel Drive Training
- Trailer Operation
- Volunteers will have an opportunity to learn about this opportunity by joining AZGFD staff or volunteers to check waters in advance.
