Volunteers needed to beautify Saguaro Lake, both onshore and on the water!
We will be cleaning up by both walking onshore and driving around on boats, so we will have both an onshore cleanup and an offshore cleanup staging location. We will be providing gloves and trash bags to all groups and have spares in case anyone finds the mother load of trash. You will not need a Tonto pass to participate in the event. Department staff will have a sign to place in each vehicle to cover parking during the event. If you plan to stay afterwards and fish or have a nice hike please be sure to have a Tonto pass.Be sure to bring water and snacks as no food will be provided
Non-motorized Cleanup Location: Butcher Jones Recreation Area
This group will be walking around the beach area and hiking along the trail picking up trash and fishing line. The hiking trail curves around the cove next to Butcher Jones and continues quite a ways, but the main area we will be focusing on is Butcher Jones and the adjacent cove. You can also use non-motorized watercraft in this area, so feel free to bring any personalized watercraft to help move around the area.
Watercraft Cleanup Location:
Second ramp Boat Launch
Calling all boats and a handful of non-motorized watercrafts this group will be launching and heading out to scope the shorelines for trash and fishing line, with any luck you'll find a new favorite fishing lure free of charge. We will be focusing the non-motorized watercrafts along the fishing piers near the boat ramp while the boats will be heading up lake checking out common fishing areas and day use areas such as Bagley Flats campground.
