The hosts will work closely with Department staff to perform maintenance of the Whitewater Draw area including, but not limited to: removal of weeds, trash clean up, and maintenance. As part of the volunteer position the Department provides RV or travel trailer camping spots with electrical hookup, sewer and water for use by volunteers free of charge. Hosts will need to provide their own RV or travel trailer.
Camp hosts duties may include:
- Talk with visitors, answer basic questions (information provided by Wildlife Area Manager) about the area and Sandhill Cranes
- Make sure visitors are staying on trail
- Cleaning & resupplying restrooms
- Clean up & removal of trash
- Sweeping & mopping floors
- Landscaping, raking debris & gravel
- May have the ability to help with Wildlife Area projects based on interest and/or capabilities
